PROF. ZDZISŁAW KRYGOWSKI - THE PATRON OF THE CYBER SECURITY TRAINING CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE
We are very pleased to announce that by the decision of the Minister of National Defense dated August 18, 2021, Professor Zdzisław Krygowski, an outstanding Polish scientist, has become the patron of the Cyber Security Training Centre of Excellence.

Professor Zdzisław KRYGOWSKI was born on 22nd December, 1872 in Lviv. He studied mathematics, physics and astronomy at The Jagiellonian University and, in 1895, he was granted a PhD degree at the Faculty of Philosophy. He also studied in Berlin (1895 -1896) and in Paris (1896-1898), where he worked under the supervision of a renowned French mathematician, E. Picard.

He is not only a scientist of merit for Polish mathematics, but also proved to be an efficient organizer of the development of the University of Poznan in the difficult years after Poland regained its independence in 1918. He was a lecturer, teacher, tutor and an inspiration for many Polish mathematicians. He organized a secret course of cryptography for about twenty of his best students and co-workers. Among those gifted young scientists were Marian Rejewski and Henryk Zygalski, famous for breaking the Enigma Cipher.

In recognition of his engagement in organization of the course, Prof. KRYGOWSKI received a letter of commendation from Major General Tadeusz PISKOR, and in 1936 he was awarded Commander’s Cross of Polonia Restituta.

We are proud to do our duties, which include shaping priority directions of staff development in cybersecurity, cryptology and IT, under the patronage of such an outstanding personality as Prof. Zdzisław KRYGOWSKI.
